Good News From Redwings Horse Sanctuary

Rescued animals from Spindles Farm in Amersham are now guaranteed a safe home at Redwings

After the shocking story of the suffering inflicted on the horses and donkeys at Spindles Farm in Amersham, it is good to receive the news that those rescued will now be safe for the rest of their lives.
Redwings Horse Sanctuary in Norfolk helped, with others, to take the animals, some just about alive, to the safety and care they needed to recover from appalling cruelty.
Many starved to death before help arrived and the case is described as the worst case of cruelty to animals ever known about in this country.
The owner of the farm was sentenced to 8 months in jail, and banned from keeping horses for life.
The other members of the family involved were banned from keeping horses for ten years.
One of the donkey foals rescued was later named Esther and there is a picture in the latest newsletter I have received, of her being carried, almost lifeless in the arms of a rescuer, into a horsebox and to safety.
Other pictures of horses and ponies as they were when found and as they are now, show the care they have received at Redwings compared with the neglect previously.
The same story, with different animals, applies to the Speen Rest Home For Horses near High Wycombe and the rescued animals there can all be visited to see how they are progressing.
There is no charge for admission but donations are gratefully received.
Redwings have started an adoption scheme for funds to help care for Esther, now that she, and the other rescued animals have been legally signed over to the Sanctuary.
Gifts can also be bought and all profits go to the care of the animals.
Everyone must hope that nothing like this case ever happens again after such unnecessary suffering being caused to innocent creatures.
